Zhang/Zhang was founded by Zhang Jia Hao Zhang, a name that carries its own story. In China, the surname comes first, but when his passport was made in Europe, the order was flipped. His first and last name became the same: Zhang Zhang. Two Zhangs. One for the East, one for the West. A name that, without planning it, became the perfect symbol for a life lived between two worlds.

Growing up in the Netherlands as a second-generation Chinese, he never fully felt at home, not here, not in China. That feeling of in-between, of belonging everywhere and nowhere at once, became the foundation of the brand.

Fashion became his way of exploring that space. Through design, he found a language to express identity and to better understand his own heritage. At the same time, he noticed that Chinese culture in European fashion is often missing or simplified into stereotypes. Zhang/Zhang was created to challenge this, to present a more personal and contemporary perspective.

The brand combines minimalism with bold expression, translating traditional influences into modern silhouettes. Each piece carries a story about culture, identity, and the search for belonging.
